After successfully passing your driving test you will then continue to develop your skills as a driver. It is estimated that most people do not achieve full planning and observational skills for about two years after passing the driving test. Remember this is the most dangerous period and as a newly qualified driver you are far more likely to be involved in an accident than an experienced driver. This is especially true for young drivers between the ages of 17-21 years old, who are six times more at risk of a fatal accident than other groups in the population.

Always remember "Safe driving for life"

There are several ways to improve your driving skills. The most obvious is to always drive within your own capabilities and not to be pushed by other people into exceeding your own skills. Should you wish to take further training to improve your skills there are six methods I can recommend.

1. Refresher Courses

2. Motorway Driving

2. Pass Plus

3. The Diamond Advanced (DIA)

4. Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM)

5. Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA)

6. Approved Driving Instructor Courses
